Michael DeFrancesco is an acclaimed artist whose career spans decades of portraiture, illustration, and fine art. A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, DeFrancesco studied under renowned masters such as Irving Shapiro. His early talent earned him the prestigious Robert Allerton Scholarship and a position as a portrait artist for Walt Disney Productions. Over his distinguished career, his work has been featured on PBS and acquired by major private collections, including McDonnell Douglas. A dedicated educator, DeFrancesco has taught oil painting, life drawing, and illustration at esteemed institutions such as Columbia College Chicago. Drawing inspiration from his travels across France—from Monet’s gardens in Giverny to the lavender fields of Provence—DeFrancesco now focuses on distilling the essence of a moment, striving to say more with less through intentional, evocative brushwork grounded in gratitude.
